Welcome back to another edition of the #EdgeRoundup! Let’s dive straight in to last week’s headlines:
In a 6-2 ruling, the US Supreme Court overturned a previous federal circuit decision deeming that Google’s use of elements of Oracle API constituted copyright infringement.
Welcome back to another roundup of industry updates! This week served up major military contracts, a controversial fight against fiber, and another big push towards autonomous trucking. You’ll have to read on:
We’re back at it with another week of tech news! Not much new to report, especially considering that the biggest story of the week was a cargo ship blocking the Suez Canal.
We’re keeping this week’s Roundup short and sweet—so let’s dive into the latest happenings in the broader telco world!
As a fraction of the world “sprung forward” Sunday morning, it occurred to me that I still don't really know how Daylight Saving Time works. Born and raised in a place where resetting the clocks twice a year was the norm—and currently living in a place that does not—I understandably took for granted that “standard time” was, well, the global standard for a reason.
Wasting no time with intros this week (for the sake of brevity, definitely not because I can’t think of a captivating opener…), we need to address Google’s March 3rd announcement regarding its advertising policy.
This time last year, the Mutable team reunited in Cyprus for the inaugural yearly company get-together.
Happy belated Valentine’s Day to all of our beloved readers! I was thinking of including a Mutable-themed “roses are reds, violets are blue” pun—but figured I’d spare you. Anyways, read on for more about our mutual love, edge industry news
Bezos steps down, Jassy steps up, Robinhood’s under fire, and the invite-only audio chat app Clubhouse was graced by Elon Musk...who also also bought $1.5 billion in Bitcoin through Tesla.
Another week down in 2021, and here we are with another Edge Roundup! Read on for the latest industry updates.
Is it really an Edge Roundup if I don’t start off by mentioning that it’s been a “busy week in edge computing"?
Another week down! This one featured the Consumer Electronic Show, which debuted virtually this year.
This time last year, we posted the first Edge Roundup of 2020. Suffice to say that none of us knew what we were in for over the following twelve months. After combining through dozens of editions and hundreds of headlines, we've come up with this “roundup of Edge Roundups”: retracing—albeit broadly—how the biggest tech trends developed over the most infamous year of many of our lifetimes.
Contrary to popular belief, Mutable landing on the list of “10 Hot Edge Computing Companies You Should Watch in 2021” wasn’t the biggest headline from last week...
Last Monday, December 28th, the Federal Aviation Administration issued two landmark drone regulations: mandating remote identification and opening up licensing to operate at night and over people. We’re following up one week later to discuss how the industry has responded.
Here you have it, the last Edge Roundup of 2020! It’s short this week, hopefully enough to withstand the “between Christmas and New Years” attention span stupor.
It’s safe to say that this time of year is not feeling as “holly and jolly” as usual. Especially, I admit, after reading this troubling piece in The Atlantic about the “The Existential Despair of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”...
We’re officially entering the final weeks of 2020...time sure does fly when you’re having fun(damental concerns about the future of humanity)!
Hello again, fellow telecommunications enthusiasts. We’re back with yet another edition of Edge Roundup. In just a week, a lot has happened in the world of edge computing, 5g networking and autonomous driving.
Though I am starting to get sick of myself talking about the passage of time (it’s hardly news!), there’s something about reaching December that feels oddly...significant. Like the burst of energy you get at the last mile of a marathon, or the catharsis of finishing the final chapter of a novel.
Oh, Thanksgiving. Everyone's favorite day to fill up on turkey (or tofurky) and family turmoil... actually, now that I think of it...the latter might be avoided now that we’re all social-distancing! That’s at least one thing to be thankful for.
